<li>Every day continue your practice.  Even if your exercises fall a little short with the busyness of holidays, make sure you create the room for yourself to move your body, breath deeply and take care of yourself.  You are worth it!</li>
<li>Drink water.  All the spirits involved in the holiday time are delicious and often a lot of fun, but for every alcohol drink you consume, drink a big glass of water or cup of herbal tea.</li>
<li>Give yourself some space to celebrate, but remember to keep the simple plan of fresh vegetables first, then protein.  Fill yourself up on this and most likely you won’t have room for anything else.  If you do, keep it a small portion.</li>
</ol>
<p>Enjoy yourself, give thanks and never feel like you’re depriving yourself.  Know you are filling yourself with all you need.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The answer is in the title of this blog.  Keep it simple.  We are talking whole foods, tons of greens, low on grains and high on protein.   Stay completely away from refined sugars and proceeded stuff, that’s the junk that makes us slow, depressed and unhappy.  When we are unhappy inside we don’t look gorgeous outside and our performance falls short.</p>
<ol>
<li>Be intuitive.  Listen to your body.  What does it need?</li>
<li>Start with greens.  Revolve your meal around fresh green produce, as local as you can find.</li>
<li>Then find your protein source, make sure it’s organic!</li>
<li>Keep your grains whole and real: brown rice, quinoa, sprouted grains are best.</li>
<li>Let’s talk about breakfast.  We need it.  Some of us don’t need it until later, but we still need it.  I go for the smoothie with green powder, lots of fresh fruit and coconut water. You can get creative and add your oils, favorite nuts or seeds and even a handful of fresh spinach.  Blend it up and bring it with you.  If you need more, consider a hard boiled organic egg. Make a dozen at the beginning of the week and keep them around for convenience.  I’m also big on soup and fish. It sounds crazy but a bowl of miso soup and leftover fish from the night before… delicious breakfast.</li>
<li>I like lunch early so I can propel through the rest of my day with energy.  I go for salads infused with dairy-free dressings, filled with avocado, nuts, lean meats and tons of my favorite veggies.  Other options are wraps made with collard greens.  Fill the collard green with humus, pesto, or cheese if you do dairy.  Fill it with lean meat, avocado, shredded veggies and drizzle olive oil and lemon in it.</li>
<li>Don’t forget to drink a ton of water, coconut water allows you to have some electrolytes, but good clean water is amazing to hydrate you as you keep moving your body.  Snacks are important as well.  Please surround yourself with healthy + easy snacks: nuts, dried fruits, grain-free muffins, jars filled with leftover smoothies, sprouted grain tortillas smothered in avocado + filled with beans, lentils, veggies.</li>
<li>When in doubt when you are out to eat: go for salads and simple proteins.  Stay away from breads, processed food and sugar.</li>
<li>Dinners can be gloriously simple.  I love bowls.  I layer with a whole grain, then add a layer of beans/meat, then a layer of sautéed greens, then a layer of shredded raw veggies topped with a dairy-free dressing.</li>
<li>Of course we need some sweetness! Stick with deserts sweetened with maple syrup, dates + honey.  Cakes made with no grains are the wave of the future {using almond flour or coconut flour} because they give us great amounts of protein.  Pure dark chocolate in small amounts is fine.  Fresh fruit based treats are wonderfully sweet and give you good energy.</li>
</ol>
